Q: WHY HAS JAGUAR NOT CREATED ITS OWN DEDICATED PUBLIC CHARGING NETWORK?
An independent network of rapid vehicle chargers is developing quickly across many countries. We will ensure that all Jaguar electric vehicles are compatible with this network.
Q: HOW DO I FIND CHARGING STATIONS?
You can use I‑PACE’s in-car navigation while you are driving, or the Remote app to find charging stations before you travel.
Q: IS IT ACCEPTABLE TO STORE CHARGING CABLES IN THE CABIN OR ON THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR?
Our vehicles are designed with a storage area for the safe transportation of all compatible charging cables.
Q: CAN I USE ANY MODE 3 CABLE TO CHARGE I‑PACE?
There are two ratings available for Public Charging (Mode 3) Cables. These are 16A and 32A. Your vehicle and charging point identify which cable is attached and regulate the right amount of electrical current to charge your vehicle. Where the electrical supply allows, the 32A capability will charge faster.
Q: HOW IS THE CHARGING CABLE PROTECTED AGAINST THEFT OR VANDALISM WHEN USING PUBLIC CHARGING?
The Public Charging (Mode 3) Cable locks into the vehicle inlet and remains locked until you unlock I‑PACE.
Q: CAN I‑PACE BE DRIVEN WITH A CHARGING CABLE STILL PLUGGED IN?
No. It is a mandatory requirement of international standards that electric vehicles cannot be driven when plugged into a charging station.
Q: CAN ELECTRIC VEHICLES BE CHARGED IN THE RAIN?
Yes. Customers and bystanders are not exposed to any risk of electric shock.
Q: SHOULD I CHARGE TO 100 PER CENT EVERY TIME?
We suggest you charge I‑PACE to 80 per cent and only charge to 100 per cent when a long journey is planned. This is a typical recommendation for electric vehicles and ensures that the battery life and performance is optimised.
Our electric vehicles have a charging management system which will optimise your charging requirements accordingly.
Q: WHY IS THE FIRST 80 PERCENT CHARGE SO MUCH FASTER THAN THE FINAL 20 PERCENT?
The rate of charge is limited by the chemistry and physics of lithium-ion batteries and it can take as long to charge the last 20 percent as it does to charge the first 80 percent. The final stages of charging are carefully controlled by the battery management system.
Q: HOW MANY DAYS CAN AN ELECTRIC VEHICLE BE LEFT WITHOUT CHARGING? FOR INSTANCE, CAN I LEAVE IT PARKED AT THE AIRPORT?
Our electric vehicles can be left unattended for at least six months, however plugging in once a month is optimal. The battery management system is electronically controlled and uses very little energy.
Q: WHAT ARE 'DESTINATION CHARGING' AND 'JOURNEY CHARGING'?
Destination charging refers to charging stations that can be found at local shopping centres, hotels, gyms and other destinations you may visit for extended periods of time.
Journey charging refers to charging stations at service stations or dedicated electric vehicle charging stations, which provide the maximum charge in the shortest time.
Q: IS THERE AN IOS OR ANDROID APP THAT CAN ASSIST WITH MANAGING HOW I CHARGE I‑PACE?
Yes. The InControl Remote app, available for both iOS and Android, enables you to stop or start charging, manage departure times, pre-condition your vehicle, manage tariffs and set a maximum state of charge. The app also sends you notifications if the charge plug is unexpectedly removed or if charging has stopped due to lack of power.
