Los Angeles witnessed the US debut of two landmark models in 2012. First, the fastest, most powerful and agile sports saloon we’ve ever built: XFR-S. Lining up next to it the new F‑TYPE – a return to the company’s heartland: a two-seater, convertible sports car focused on performance, agility and maximum driver reward.
Developed by Jaguar Land Rover’s specialist ETO division, XFR-S delivers the goods on all fronts. It features bespoke powertrain, chassis and body enhancements that enable it to push the performance boundaries. Hitting 60mph in 4.4 seconds, its 5.0 litre supercharged V8 takes you to a limited top speed of 186mph.
On unveiling the car Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar’s Global Brand Director, commented: “Sporting character is evident in all Jaguar saloons. In the XFR-S that character has been amplified, the result being a truly engaging car with a combination of technical innovation, assertive design and staggering performance that will satisfy the most demanding of drivers.”
The F‑TYPE V6 S made its North American debut at the show with special-order Firesand paintwork and equipped with optional ‘design’ pack and exterior and interior ‘black’ packs. It demonstrates the range of personalisation options that will be available for customers. As Director of Design, Ian Callum puts it, “Good automotive design should be about creating excitement.” We think you’ll agree, these two highly distinctive performance cars deliver in spades.
