Jaguar unveiled two new additions to its R performance range at the New York Motor Show-the XJR and the XKR-S GT.
Decisive power, definitive luxury: the new XJR
The new XJR delivers supercar performance, assertive looks and the highest levels of luxury. This is the most focused, agile and responsive XJR ever, with a bespoke chassis, aerodynamic developments and a 5.0-litre supercharged V8 engine delivering an impressive 550PS and 680Nm of torque. It takes you smoothly from 0-60mph in just 4.4 seconds, to a top speed of 174mph. To call the driving experience thrilling is an understatement. It’s unashamedly luxurious too, with an interior that’s as breathtaking as its performance.
XJR is packed with technology to make the driving experience even more memorable. Calibrated Electronic Active Differential and Dynamic Stability Control systems offer enhanced handling. Its dynamic, muscular stance is enhanced by new 20-inch ‘Farallon’ forged alloy wheels with bespoke low-profile tyres for maximum grip. Add the unique “R” exterior styling including sports exhaust quad pipes, bonnet louvres, a revised front bumper featuring a splitter, unique side sills and a rear spoiler, it looks like it means business. Inside, you’ll enjoy beautiful soft grain leather Sports seats with embossed R logo available in a range of sporting colours.
“This XJR is a premium luxury supercar that also has an extremely purposeful look to it. This car will surprise, there’s no doubt about it.” says Ian Callum, Design Director, Jaguar. The XJR will be available in the UK from £93,370.
The ultimate on road or track: XKR-S GT
Developed by Jaguar’s ETO division, XKR-S GT is the ultimate road-going but track-ready version of the XK Coupé.
Featuring bespoke aerodynamic components and suspension developments to increase downforce and optimise high-speed cornering ability, it will hit 60mph in just 3.9 seconds. The car develops up to 145kg of downforce, and it’s the first production Jaguar to be fitted with precision carbon ceramic brakes.
"The XKR-S GT is the most extreme iteration of the Jaguar R Brand's performance focus,” says Adrian Hallmark, Global Brand Director. “Utilising race-car derived technology, all-aluminium construction and an uncompromised approach to aerodynamic efficiency, the result is a car as capable on the track as it is exhilarating on the road."
Jaguar will only be producing 30 XKR-S GTs, making this the rarest 'R' model in the 25-year history of its R performance cars.
